The body of a young boy retrieved from a sewage system has been identified in Evaton as that of six-year-old Khomanani Mawa.

On Sunday, the child fell into a manhole while playing with friends near Orange Farm. Specialist teams were called in to assist in the search for the Grade R learner.

While the family is relieved that the search has concluded, they are of the view that Mawa was pushed into the manhole. For years, residents have raised issues of open manholes in the area and appealed to the government to do more about the issue.
