Getting your application approved for a tax rebate for a solar installation might just have gotten a lot trickier with the South African Revenue Service(Sars) conducting checks to verify installations.

Sars intends to use information from Solar PV installers to confirm whether those seeking tax rebates on rooftop solar panels qualify. In March, SARS issued a draft notice for public comment on its proposal to list solar PV installers as third parties providing information for tax returns.
