SA to receive vaccines to cover 10% of country

South Africa will receive initial Covid-19 vaccines to cover about 10% of the country’s population. President Cyril Ramaphosa says that this is due to Pretoria’s participation in the Covax vaccine trials.

The President was speaking last night, urging the public to adhere to the stricter measures being put in place. While the country remains in Level 1 of the lockdown, an earlier curfew has been instituted for the coming two weeks, in a bid to mitigate the spread of Covid-19.

The country has experienced a surge in infections, and the upcoming holiday period poses a high risk of several super-spreader events.
