SA launches 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children

As the Cape reels from the murders of a Bonteheuwel mother, and an elderly Manenberg woman, the country will launch the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children campaign today.

This year’s theme, ‘Women’s Economic Justice for a Non-Violent and Non-Sexist South Africa’ draws on President Cyril Ramaphosa’s call to ensure that women are independent and have the ability to leave abusive relationships. The Inter-Ministerial Committee on Gender-Based Violence and Femicide will also provide an update on progress made in implementing the National Strategic Plan.
