After nearly two years the public can again be on the move at any hour as the Covid-19 curfew has been lifted.

Government has also announced an increase in the number of people that can gather indoors to a thousand. But it’s still governed by the size of the venue as proper social distancing will need to be adhered to. Alcohol establishments have also been given approval to return to their full licence conditions. However it’s still illegal to drink in any public place.

According to Minister in the Presidency Mondli Gungubele the regulation changes are due to the trajectory of the pandemic, the levels of vaccination in the country and the available capacity within the health sector.

Indications are that the country may have passed the peak of the fourth wave at a national level. This wave has been dominated by the Omicron variant which has caused mild illness.
