There is a possibility that South Africa could be saying goodbye to mask wearing in indoor public spaces.

In a memo Health Minister Joe Phaahla recommended that this practice as well as the limits on gatherings be dropped citing the trajectory of the pandemic.

It comes as people have adapted to the presence of Covid-19 as another disease. Both natural and vaccine immunity is also in play.

The president’s coordinating council is expected to discuss these recommendations tomorrow.
