R350k Garden Route drug bust

At least R350 000 worth of mandrax tablets have been confiscated in Klein Brakrivier in the Garden Route District Municipality.

A silver Opel Corsa was stopped along the N2 highway following intelligence. The police’s Flying Squad found a total of 7000 mandrax tablets.

The vehicle’s two occupants were arrested and face charges of dealing in drugs. Police spokesperson Sergeant Christopher Spies says the preliminary investigation reveals that the suspects were enroute to George.

Earlier this week more than R3 million. worth of suspected heroin bound for Cape Town was stopped on the N7 at the Klawer weighbridge. Western Cape police were acting on a tip-off that drugs were being transported in a vehicle that carrying another vehicle on a trailer.
