OUTA: Levies Making up Most of Fuel Price

SHARE

The levies added to South Africa’s fuel price, is causing sky-rocketing increases, which must be addressed.

This is the warning from the Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (OUTA).

They’ve taken this concern to government, noting that the Road Accident Fund levy has gone up from 80c to R 2.18.

OUTA Chief Executive Officer, Wayne Duvenage, says that this high cost must be justified as there are allegations of mismanagement of the Road Accident Fund.

Duvenage says that the carbon tax of 10c is also added to the fuel price.

He says that OUTA wants to sit with government to unpack all the levies and understand why they are increasing. Duvenage says that this could help to reduce the price.
