The Western Cape police service is filling critical vacancies.

The Mitchells Plain police station has gotten a new station commander Brigadier Lindiwe Dyantyi. She replaces Cass Goolam, who retired last month.

Brigadier Jan Alexander has taken over the reins at Nyanga police station from Major General Vuyisile Ncata, who was moved to district commissioner in Nelson Mandela Bay in June.

Now the Mitchells Plain community is hoping that Dyantyi will be able to tackle the gangsterism scourge in the area while in Nyanga residents want their commander to work in fighting the high levels of hijackings, gender-based violence (GBV), and other violent crimes.

Brigadier Rozelle Bekker was appointed to the section head of legal support and Brigadier Leon Hanana to provincial head for serious and violent crime.
