It’s a sigh of relief! A donkey that had been stranded on an island in the Free State for about four weeks was finally rescued and reunited with his owners. According to the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI), the donkey had made its way to the island on the Vaal Dam when water levels were low. But he was unable to get back to the mainland when the water rose. A local vet says the animal who had to be darted was stressed and malnourished.
