Mali cuts military ties with Paris

Mali has given the French military the boot.

The West African country’s junta has ended the defence accords with France saying the foreign troops have flagrantly violated their sovereignty. It noted the violation of its airspace as well as the deterioration in military cooperation.

Tensions between France and Mali’s military government have been rising. It comes amid Bamako’s rapprochement with Russia which Paris is unhappy about.

Meanwhile France has cried foul over Mali’s latest decision saying it’s unjustified.
