An Ottery madrassah owner and teacher has been arrested for a second time on allegations of sexual assault. The 45-year-old appeared in the Wynberg Magistrate’s Court after a case was opened at the Grassy Park police station. According to police spokesperson FC Van Wyk this incident occurred in May 2017. The suspect is already out on a R1000 bail for the first case. He is accused of molesting a 13-year-old girl. The suspect is expected to be back in court later this month where both cases will be dealt with. Police say the State will oppose bail.
Meanwhile the Muslim Judicial Council has called on the Ottery madrassah owner to step down from all positions while the court process is underway. It further notes that if this fails to happen the governing body of the school should suspend him with immediate effect.
