Local Shepherd Saves Cattle Worth R100k In Mahikeng

A local shepherd has been hailed a hero after he stopped two suspects in the process of stealing cattle worth R100 000 in Mahikeng.

Police spokesperson Colonel Adele Myburgh says on Wednesday,6th April, the shepherd allegedly heard strange noises coming from a kraal in the Majemantsho village, and upon investigating caught the suspects in the act.

They fled the scene abandoning two vehicles with trailers, five cows, one bull and two calves. The duo aged 26 and 35-years-old was later arrested. A firearm was also confiscated.

They are set to appear in the Molopo Magistrate’s Court tomorrow. They face charges of stock theft and unlawful possession of a firearm.
