Authorities are following up on potential leads linked to shooting of a law enforcement officer in Mitchell’s Plain.

The 37-year-old identified as Toufiek Williams was shot dead while caught in gang crossfire.

The City’s Mayco member for Safety and Security Alderman JP Smith says the off-duty Leap officer was walking with his two-year-old daughter when he was struck by a stray bullet. He died on the scene.

Smith says police have activated a 72 hour action plan and all role players are working together to bring those responsible to justice.
