The Khayelitsha Development Forum (KDF) is confident that the police will be working better to address the mass shootings gripping the community.

The KDF chairperson, Ndithini Tyhido says that the summit hosted last week with the various police directorates, including Minister Bheki Cele, has been given strict time frames.

It follows a series of mass shootings in Khayelitsha, which have claimed 86 lives.

Tyhido says that the community had been forced to rely on the CPF and neighbourhood watch to protect the area from crime.

But he says that the police must step up and fulfill their mandate
