Johannesburg abandoned buildings’ residents hope for city attention

The people living in the hijacked Marshalltown building in Johannesburg hoped that their actions would get the attention of the municipality. Head of social impact at Norton Rose Fulbright, Candice Pillay, says that instead, these people, who were on the housing waiting list, were left to languish in derelict building, which was later devastated in a fire. Pillay was speaking as the City has been given three months within which to improve the living conditions of the Marshalltown fire victims…
