Increasing number of eligible voters complain of being turned away

Concerns have been raised about registered voters not appearing on the voters’ roll.

The latest has been reported in Ottery, where about 20 people who have voted in previous elections, have been turned away from polling stations in their voting districts.

One resident, Shameema Dolly-Salie, has lodged a formal complaint at the IEC officers, saying that she also has proof that her son had registered to participate in this election.

The problem has raised several issues around the management of these polls, and whether the technology brought on board has been effective in ensuring free and fair elections.
