On January 29, 2024, Red Crescent volunteers received a desperate emergency call from Gaza. A terrified five-year-old girl, trapped inside a vehicle under Israeli military fire, pleaded for help as rescuers fought against impossible odds to reach her. Her name was Hind Rajab.
The Voice of Hind Rajab powerfully documents the final moments surrounding Hind’s story, exposing the devastating human cost of the ongoing Israeli occupation and the unimaginable suffering endured by Palestinians in Gaza.
Social Intifada proudly serves as the official South African partner for The Voice of Hind Rajab and has taken the documentary on a nationwide tour across the country. The Cape Town screening marks the final leg of this impactful journey.
Following the first screening at the Islamia Auditorium, audiences described the atmosphere as deeply emotional and profoundly moving. Through striking visuals and haunting audio recordings, the documentary captures the brutality of occupation and the loss of innocence and hope experienced by Palestinian families facing death and displacement.
Co-founder of Social Intifada, Khalid Vawda, expressed his hope that viewers leave the screening inspired to move beyond their comfort zones and actively raise their voices against injustice, particularly the Zionist occupation of Palestine.
