Workers should have long been out on the streets demanding an end to the Ukraine Russia war that is fueling high prices.

The South African Federation of Trade Unions (SAFTU) general secretary Zwelinzima Vavi believes one of the reasons for this is due to the imperialist propaganda. He says people have been convinced that Russia is villain while the western military alliance NATOis not and that it has the right to so called defend Ukraine despite the history. NATO members states have been arming Kiev.

Vavi says people are being buried alive with the rising cost of living. Fuel prices have soared to over R25 a litre with economists predicting that it could reach record levels of up to R40 a litre. A situation which will further push up the price of food.

SAFTU is planning to stage a national shutdown in August over several issues including the rolling blackouts and high fuel prices. They want the government to act decisively.
