The Muslim community has been reminded to always check for a halal certificate in supermarkets before purchasing produce, especially meat. The Muslim Judicial Council (MJC’s) Halal Trust Director Shaykh Achmat Sedick indicates that it’s always been a challenge when stores decide to no longer be halal.
This comes as Checkers in Kenilworth Centre (KC) butchery is no longer halal. He explains that once a supermarket decides to no longer be halal; it informs the trust, the halal produce gets removed and the certificate and the Muslim community is then informed.
