The likelihood of Nelson Mandela Bay hitting day zero appears to be inevitable.

Water Expert, Dr Kevin Winter says the situation in the Eastern Cape metro should be described as a catastrophe as over a million people are on the brink of being left without water in the next week or so.

He notes that the predicted rain forecasted for the coming days is too little to save the day.

Over the last five years there has not been significant rainfall. Climate and weather variability have been cited as key issues as well as the absence of major water infrastructure development.
