The Patriotic Alliance has garnered over 55 000 votes nationally. However, vote counting is still in the early stages.

The Independent Electoral Commission has tallied over 12% of the votes thus far. It amounts to a little more than 1.1 million ballots.

In the regional vote for the Western Cape, the Democratic Alliance is still leading the pack, with nearly 140 000 votes counted in their favour.

The regional vote count stands at 22.4% of ballots cast. The African National Congress’ Cameron Dugmore says that the party is watching the results come in with anticipation.
