Dark Weekend Ahead for SA

Public frustration with Eskom is reaching boiling point as the utility has instituted another bout of loadshedding.

Stage 3 blackouts come into effect at six o’clock for City of Cape Town residents that receive their electricity from the municipality.

This will be in place until 10pm, when Stage 4 kicks in until 5am tomorrow.

Eskom spokesperson, Sikonathi Mantantsha meanwhile says that some generation units will return to service later today and tonight, which will see the country being downgraded to Stage 2 tomorrow, and the remainder of the weekend.

The load shedding is due to three units at the Kendall power station being shutdown, one each at Tutuka and Matimba tripping, and the delayed return of units at the Majuba and Lethabo stations.
