The African National Congress is expected to hand over its cadre deployment committee’s records to the Democratic Alliance, by the close of business today. ANC spokesperson Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri says that they have taken “precautions” to comply with the provisions of the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), in order to protect the personal information of those who had not given consent for deployment records’ release.

The DA’s Leon Schreiber had first brought an application in terms of the PAIA, for access to the ANC’s deployment records. These are specific to when President Cyril Ramaphosa was the head of the ANC’s deployment committee. Schreiber contends that state capture and corruption had been let loose under Ramaphosa’s watch. This as several ANC members have been implicated in corruption at various governmental levels.
