Astronomers in Cape Town will soon get some new technology to play with that could further change how we learn about the world beyond. And not just any technology, but one of the world’s fastest computers.

The supercomputer is set to be constructed at the iThemba LABS site within the next three years, and the Cape Town Science Processing Centre will be one of the machines responsible for processing vast amounts of data that will be generated by the Square Kilometer Array (SKA) telescope.
