Columbia’s most-wanted drug trafficker has been arrested.
Dairo Antonio Usuga, also known as Otoniel headed the South American country’s largest narco-trafficking gang called the Gulf Clan. He was nabbed near one of his main outposts in Necocli.
Columbian President Ivan Duque welcomed the arrest noting it was the hardest strike to drug traffickers in the country this century and is on the same level as the fall of Pablo Escobar.
Some 500 soldiers and 22 helicopters were deployed to carry out Otoniel’s arrest. One police officer died in the operation.
