Cape Town has a new fire chief. Clinton Manuel has been appointed to the top job following the retirement of Ian Schnetler seven months ago.

According to the City’s Mayco Member for Safety and Security, Alderman JP Smith, Manuel has a stellar track record and the fire service is in good hands. He adds that the new Chief Fire Officer (CFO) knows the service inside out, is familiar with the hundreds of firefighters under his watch, and has a passion for training, development and advancement.

Manuel joined the Cape Town Municipal Fire Brigade as a learner firefighter in February 1989. He has since served at numerous fire stations in various capacities.

Manuel says he is incredibly proud, but humbled by the appointment. He further notes that he will do his utmost to repay the trust the City has shown in his leadership.
