The Bo-Kaap community says that despite reports, no middle ground was reached on the Local Spatial Development Framework  (LSDF) planning for the area.

Secretary for the Bo-Kaap Civic Association, Jacky Poking, says that the City had sought the community’s input on the upgrades they’d like to have in the area, but the eventual proposal put forward was made without their approval.

Poking says that they do not know what is contained in the proposal.

She adds that the community is tired of the constant threat of gentrification to the area, which is still being felt through the high rates that they’re being forced to pay.
