Macassar ward councillor, Peter Helfrich believes that the area is becoming a dumping ground for bodies.

He says in less than a week three bodies have been found. On Thursday the body of a man was discovered in Macassar Road. It’s unclear if any of these individuals are from the area, or if they are being murdered somewhere else and dumped there.

Helfrich says criminals are taking advantage of the power crisis as well as the under resourced local police station.

He has written to President Cyril Ramaphosa, calling for his intervention as Macassar has an issue with prolonged electricity outages that are not linked to load shedding.

According to the ward councillor he hasn’t received any assistance from Eskom’s senior management. The utility is Macassar’s electricity supplier.
