Political activist, humanitarian, and founding chairman of Awqaf SA, Dr Rashid Ahmed Salojee has passed away. More commonly known as Comrade Ram, he worked with activists throughout the then Transvaal province. The ANC says that the late Dr Salojee was a key member of their Religious Affairs Committee. He was also arrested during the anti-Tricameral Parliament protests in the 1980s and placed under house arrest for several years. Awqaf SA board of trustees chair, Haroon Kalla says that they take solace in the life of a freedom fighter who lived his life to the fullest.
