Attempted robbery at Gauteng mosque turns deadly

At least two men have been shot dead and two other people wounded at a mosque in Kensington, Gauteng.

It’s understood that three men allegedly tried to rob Zeenatul Islam Masjid during the night prayer of Isha. A member of the mosque retaliated, fatally shooting two of them.

Police say while officers were attending to the crime scene they came under attack. A shootout ensued in which two people including a police officer were wounded.

At least one person was arrested.

Cases of murder, attempted murder as well as attempted business robbery are being investigated.
