Application to halt rewrite of matric exams heard in Gauteng today

An application to halt the rewrite of two matric exams will be heard in the North Gauteng High Court today. AfriForum brought the application yesterday on behalf of four matric learners. The matter was delayed, as the Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga will file her opposing affidavit by this afternoon. The Minister had already stated that the exam paper leaks were too widely spread, and the department needed to protect the integrity of the National Senior Certificate. But Afriforum maintains that the rewrite disadvantages 400 000 matrics.
