Allow Communities To Also Build Their Own Energy Capacity

A labour federation has noted that the transition in energy production and supply must not only be tilt towards business. The South African Federation of Trade Unions warns that if this is not altered it could lead to a certain form of monopoly.

It says communities should be allowed to build their own energy capacity. Saftu’s spokesperson Trevor Shaku explains that load shedding has devastated both communities and business.

These remarks come as businesses can now produce their own electricity of up to 100MW.
