Tensions soared in Sheikh Jarrah yesterday, when illegal Israeli settlers backed up by occupying forces attempted to remove Palestinians from their homes. The Israelis had marked the anniversary of the 1967 occupation of Palestine. Their demonstration snaked through the Palestinian neighbourhood of Sheikh Jarrah after a violent morning in which Israelis stormed Al Aqsa mosque compound.
