The address of Norman Avzal Simons cousin will remain confidential for the safety of the community.

Simons who is known as the Station Strangler is living at a residence in Parow after he was released on parole this morning after 28 years behind bars for the rape and murder of 10-year-old Elroy van Rooyen. While not convicted for any other crime he was suspected of being a serial killer after the bodies of 21 other boys were found in shallow graves in Mitchells Plain between 1986 and 1994

Chairperson of the Parow Neighbourhood Watch, Shakir Smith says should the address have been made public, it would invite a whole range of issues which the community doesn’t need.

Parow residents have expressed their unhappiness about the convicted criminal being placed in their area saying that they fear for the safety of their children.

Smith says the Department of Correctional Services has requested that the community and its respective structures assist in monitoring Simons.
