Two people, including a 16-year-old boy, were killed and two young females injured in a suspected gang-related attack in Vygieskraal, Athlone on Thursday night.
It’s alleged that the four were standing on the corner of Violet Close and Canal Road when unknown suspects opened fire. Local police spokesperson Warrant Officer Zita Norman says one of the victims ran around Kakgat and collapsed. The other deceased collapsed in Canal Road.
The 17- and 21-year-olds who were injured were transported to hospital in a private vehicle. Norman says nine cartridges were found at the crime scene. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation and no arrests have yet been made.
