In this week’s edition of Civic Duty, we head to the community of Rondebosch East.

The area is made up of middle-to-upper-middle-class households. Its location connects it to areas like Athlone and Claremont. Rondebosch East has also become the scene of some tension, as the City has plans to develop the field at the corner of Kromboom Road and 7th Avenue (near Smuts Avenue).

For these and other issues affecting the community, we spoke to Rondebosch East Civic and Ratepayers’ Association’s chairperson Rashard Davids.

We then headed to the Gatesville / Rylands area. This community is a cultural and religious hub. It is clear that the residents take their civic duty seriously. But what are some of the issues affecting this community, and how should the City be dealing with them?
