Yaaseen has carved out a distinct brand of comedy defined by dry, intelligent humour, a style that has become his trademark. He is deeply embedded in South Africa’s comedy ecosystem, where fellow comedians feed off one another’s energy and creativity.
The discussion touched on his role in being part of a collective of fellow comedians who support each other. This has been a means for comedians to support each other in an industry that has weathered challenges in the entertainment industry through economic downturns as well as the pandemic. This unity among performing acts has been a means of survival.
Yaaseen is firmly rooted in the community, from being present for the Ramadaan expos, to supporting community-based relief organisations in their outreach, he continues to be a resource and support base for worthy causes.
From social media influencer to corporate MC, comedian, and podcast host, Yaaseen has adapted to various platforms. The discussion touched on how he manages to switch between these roles. He has featured in a few movies, including Tali’s Joburg Diary and Comedy Mixtape. He was asked whether he was setting a foundation for a career in acting as a future ambition.
