A man and two women have been arrested in connection with the murder of Jabulile Ntimba, whose body was found in Dawn Park, Boksburg, on Thursday.
The arrests were made by members of the Gauteng Murder and Robbery Unit. The three suspects are expected to appear in the local magistrate’s court today.
Ntimba’s death is the latest in a series of cases involving women whose bodies have been discovered across Ekurhuleni since July.
Police are also continuing efforts to identify a woman whose body was found floating in the Clayville River in Olifantsfontein on September 7. The case has been incorporated into the broader investigation into the deaths of women in the area. Police have stressed that the cases are being investigated collectively, but have not confirmed that all the deaths are connected.
According to the list released by police, the victims, in order of discovery, are:
Busisiwe Mahlangu – found in Kempton Park on July 15.
Itumeleng Kekana – found in Kempton Park on August 3.
Nomfesane Mjobo – found in Kempton Park on August 26.
An unidentified woman – found floating in the Clayville River in Olifantsfontein on September 7.
Gracious Nkomo – found in Kempton Park on September 10.
Elizabeth Moselakgomo – found in Kempton Park on September 12.
An unidentified woman – found in Olifantsfontein on September 14. Her name has been withheld until her family is notified.
Dineo Motapane – found in Kwa-Thema on September 15.
Jabulile Ntimba – found in Dawn Park on September 17.
The investigation has been placed under a specialised team as police work to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths and whether there are links between the cases. Authorities have also appealed to families with missing relatives to come forward to assist with the identification process.
The investigation remains ongoing.
