South Africans are celebrating after the Springboks defeated the All Blacks 43–28 to claim a 3–1 series victory in Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry.
The Springboks produced an impressive attacking display in the final match, crossing the try line six times, while New Zealand scored four tries. The victory gave South Africa another memorable win over their long-time rivals and brought the highly anticipated series to a close.
The match was played in the United States at the home of the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens, with more than 68,000 spectators filling the stadium. It marked the end of the All Blacks’ eight-match, six-week tour of South Africa with the first tour of its kind in 30 years.
The tour attracted significant attention from rugby fans, with the rivalry between the two nations once again providing a series of closely watched encounters.
Beyond the action on the field, the final match was also a lucrative money-making opportunity for both rugby unions. The successful event added a financial boost to what was already a historic series for the two rugby nations.
