Law enforcement authorities are keeping a watchful eye on opportunistic criminals wanting to steal fuel.
This weekend, 11 suspects aged 27 to 46 were arrested for alleged fuel theft at a Meyerton depot in Gauteng. The Hawks’ Tactical Operations Management Unit received a tip-off about a planned robbery at the plant. Officials then placed the area under surveillance. Thereafter, two tankers were observed entering the premises.
Preliminary investigations indicate they had been placed under administration. Police suspect that security personnel at the site may have been in on the plan.
