The Cape of Good Hope SPCA has launched an urgent appeal for information after a dog was found severely injured in Brown’s Farm in Philippi.
The Pitbull had to be euthanised due to the extent of her injuries. Inspectors say the dog, named Grace, was found in a canal with wire twisted around her neck and was too weak to survive.
SPCA Inspector Lwazi Ntungele says that the dog appeared to have suffered for days and may have been used for breeding before being discarded.
The SPCA believes the act was deliberate and is investigating a case of animal cruelty. Spokesperson Belinda Abraham has urged the public to come forward with any information, saying accountability depends on community cooperation.
