How has the EFF changed SA’s political landscape over the last 12 years?

The EFF is gearing up to celebrate its 12th anniversary in Cape Town this weekend. The red berets were initially going to celebrate its birthday in Mthatha in the Eastern Cape on July 26th. However, due to the devastating floods in the Eastern Cape during the June period, the party has switched up its plans to celebrate it in Cape Town – a DA stronghold. Since the party’s inception, South Africa’s political landscape has shifted. Was it for the better or for the worse?

To unpack the party’s highs and lows ahead of its birthday celebrations, Radio 786’s Tashreeq Truebody got into conversation with the EFF’s Mkhaliphi Hlengiwe. She is the former Deputy Secretary of the EFF, now a Member of Parliament and Central Command Team.
