Another tragedy has struck the South African military.

Four members of the National Defence Force (SANDF) were killed, and two others critically injured near Upington in the Northern Cape.

It’s understood that an army truck that was being towed burst a tyre leading to both vehicles rolling.

It’s believed one of the trucks landed on the deceased members.

Nine members escaped with minor injuries.

On Wednesday three naval mariners died at sea in Cape Town. A huge wave had apparently hit their submarine during a naval exercise in Kommetjie. An inquiry into the incident will be conducted.

Meanwhile the upcoming SA Navy Festival that was supposed to take place this weekend in Cape Town has been cancelled. The South African Navy’s Admiral Musawenkosi Nkomonde says the decision follows the tragic submarine incident.
