There are many push factors that contribute to the escalation of violence and bullying.
Director of the Centre for Child Law at the University of Pretoria Karabo Ozah, says that the main factor remains being exposed to violence.
She says that bullying is a form of harassment, and there is a definite need for preventative measures to be put in place at a school level so that this violent behaviour does not escalate into adulthood.
Ozah was speaking as Capetonians have responded with shock to a viral video showing woman verbally and physically assaulting another.
The perpetrator, identified as Anushka Braaf, appeared in court this morning for beating Mishqah Arend.
The incident was caught on camera.
The case has been postponed to September 6.
