ANC member of parliament, Mervyn Dirks has reportedly been suspended from the party.

The suspension apparently follows a letter Dirks had written to the Standing Committee on Public Accounts.

It’s alleged that he wanted the committee to call President Cyril Ramaphosa to account on the misuse of public funds in ANC campaigns.

IOL reports that the ANC wanted this request withdrawn.

It goes on to say that ANC Chief Whip, Pemmy Majodina had informed Dirks in writing of the disciplinary charges against him.

The letter was delivered to Dirks earlier today, also informing him of his suspension which had been effected immediately.
