Industry Leaders at the forefront of bolstering the African voice for over 25 years.

The official launch of Radio 786 on September 25th, 1995 served as the foundation for excellent broadcasting and dedication to uplifting the community it serves. Since then, the station has trained and developed professionals who are well-positioned to adapt to an ever-changing media landscape.

From poised and informed presenters, to sharp sound engineers, a Radio 786 production bears testament to the skills of this small, yet innovative team.

Radio 786 produces a variety of programmes on every conceivable topic – catering to the needs of the Muslim, and wider community. Being community-orientated, it continues to be a platform for its audience. This is manifested in its programming, media operations, innovative social functions, and interactions with the community.

Twenty-five years after its inception, Radio 786 continues to be a vital part of the community and has grown with it. This development is an integral part of ensuring that Radio 786 remains relevant and in touch with its diverse community. Throughout the years, the station has faced a myriad of challenges, but it is the achievements that stand out.

Radio 786 competes on a regional, national, and international level.  It brings together a staff contingent from disadvantaged backgrounds and continues to be a training ground for media expertise and thus a proud indigenous voice that reflects the community’s perspective.  This talent has been honed and recognised internationally.

Broadcasting is about growth and evolution, and the Radio 786 staff is testament to this.  These media professionals have often been head-hunted by Radio 786’s local and international competitors. This is yet another feather in the cap of a community broadcaster that always punches above its weight!
