ANC to discuss whether corruption-accused leader must step down

The governing party’s National Executive Committee will have much to get through today after delays were experienced at the weekend. These were largely due to President Cyril Ramaphosa being tied up with an African Union extraordinary summit. The ANC’s leader was meant to deliver the political overview that would set the tone for the NEC meeting, but this will take place today.

The ANC’s top structures are expected to debate the contentious issue of the party’s resolution that corruption-accused leaders should step aside. This as party secretary-general, Ace Magashule has been charged with fraud, money laundering and corruption. However, he has yet to step down from his position in the party.
