There is a sharp rise in cases of blindness in the besieged Gaza Strip.

The Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza has revealed that approximately 1,500 Palestinians have lost their eyesight since the beginning of the Israeli occupation’s genocidal aggression.

Another 4,000 people are at risk of blindness, primarily due to the critical lack of medicines and surgical equipment.

Director of the Eye Hospital in Gaza, Dr. Abdelsalam Sabah explained that procedures for conditions such as retinal diseases, diabetic retinopathy, and internal bleeding have come to a near standstill.

The ministry warned that Gaza’s sole eye care hospital is on the brink of total surgical paralysis due to crippling Israeli siege.
