Government has processed and repatriated nearly 200 Zimbabwean nationals this week as part of efforts to facilitate an orderly and humane repatriation process.
On 10 September, a total of 194 Zimbabwean nationals, mainly minors and their parents, gathered at the Zimbabwean Consulate in Johannesburg following reports that the migrants were awaiting assistance at the Consulate.
Deputy Government Spokesperson William Baloyi said government continues to work with relevant authorities and stakeholders to ensure that repatriation and deportation processes are conducted in an orderly, safe and humane manner.
He said the process is being carried out in accordance with applicable laws and established procedures.
Meanwhile, 56 Nigerian nationals were also processed with the assistance of the Nigerian Embassy. The group consisted of 18 adult males, 17 adult females and 21 minors.
Government says it will continue working with diplomatic missions and relevant stakeholders to facilitate the repatriation and deportation of foreign nationals in line with established procedures.
